Since the number of spots easily brings people an impression of intimidation, no wonder the roulette wheel maintains the status of a universal symbol in the gambling world. That may due to the uniqueness and fairness of roulette. In Roulette you have many different ways to place roulette bets: on a number, row, line, or adjacent numbers. Different bet respectively covers a specific set of numbers and give a different distribution to the winning payouts. The standard Roulette wheel offers double-zero roulette which includes 40 spots from 1 to 38 plus 0 and 00.
After placing the bets, the Roulette wheel begins to spin and a ball is dropped at the same time in an opposite rolling direction of the wheel's rotation. The winning number comes out when the rolling ball stops at a numbered slot of the roulette wheel.
The Bets:
There are plenty of betting options as follow:
Straight bet
Player can bet on any single number within the 40 spots by placing the chips on the center of this number. The payout is 35 to 1.
Split Bet
Player can bet on 2 adjacent numbers by placing a chip on the line which divides these two numbers. The Split bet aims to enlarge the opportunity of winning since either of these 2 numbers will make you win. Split Bet pays 17 to 1.
Street Bet
To bet on 3 numbers in any vertical row (a street), player places bets on the bottom line of the corresponding row on the roulette table. So in this way any of the 3 numbers will make you a winner. The payout is 11 to 1.
Corner Bet
You can bet on 4 numbers by placing a chip at the middle corner where the 4 numbers meet. Get any of these 4 numbers will win. The payout is 8 to 1.
Line Bet
By placing the chips on the boundary line which divides 2 rows intersects on the roulette table, players can bet on two street bets. Since there are totally 6 different numbers in 2 rows of 3, anyone who picks any of these 6 numbers will become a winner. The payout for winning line bet is 5 to 1.
Column Bet
Players can place chips on any of 3 columns of 12 numbers which are horizontally allocated on the table. You win at any of these numbers in your column with payout rate of 2/1, but lose at 0 and 00.
Dozen Bet
There are the three boxes marked "1st 12" "2nd 12" and "3rd 12" for you to make a dozen bet. You can bet on a group of numbers 1 to 12, numbers 13 to 24 and/or numbers 25 to 36. Once one of the 12 numbers in your group is hit you win the bet, but lose at 0 and 00. The payout rate is 2 to 1.
Even Bet
You can place a bet on either an odd or even number. You will get paid even money (1 to 1) for a winning bet on all of these bets; while 0 and 00 are losing numbers.
In Roulette Wheel, players can place their bet on as many numbers as they wish up to the game maximum. Since different casinos have various rules (i.e. some will let the players lose just half of their bets when a 0 or 00 is hit, which is called "en prison"), we recommend you to look for more info on the rules of the casino you play in before starting.
