Multi-modal Transportation Provides Cost-Efficient Option
One of our key U.S. accounts experienced a delay in production from their largest supplier, who is in Turkey. The Istanbul-based textile company temporarily could not support the larger, regularly-scheduled ocean-freight shipments from Turkey to Los Angeles which our client depended on. In order to mitigate further output delays, our client requested pricing to ship available textiles via air-freight directly from Istanbul to LAX. Knowing that the limited capacity between IST and LAX would push up the price, we created an additional, cost-efficient option for the client's consideration.
Option 1: Air-Freight Direct
IST to LAX on Turkish Airlines
Transit time 2-3 days, with potential delay due to limited availability
Option 2: Combination Truck/Air-Freight
Truck textiles from Istanbul to Frankfurt, then FRA to LAX via multiple airlines
Transit time 6 days
The Truck/Air-Freight option provided a 20% savings to the client, who was able to accommodate a 6-day shipping timeline.
Result: OG-Logic quickly provided the requested information along with another option for the client to consider which would result in a lower cost.
